Momentum is building for our Martin Luther King Jr. weekend kick off events for Baptist Build 2016.
On Saturday morning January 16, volunteers begin framing walls at 8:15 AM in the comfort of Habitat Wake's new construction center (near Habitat Wake's office). At 11:30 AM, the walls are transported to the Neuse View site. At 11:45 AM, we will have a wall raising ceremony asking God's blessings on this project and then start framing the Baptist Build houses that afternoon. Even if your church is not scheduled to work on January 16, we would love to have a representative from each church at the 11:45 AM wall raising ceremony. Please let me know if you can attend, and I will start working on the program for the ceremony.
The next day, Sunday, January 17 we will have a celebration worship service at 4PM
with participating churches from the Wake Missionary and Raleigh
Baptist Associations. If you have choirs or special worship artists that
would like to perform at this service, please let Pastors Nix or
Connelly know. They are planning this service.
We appreciate James, Roger and Johnny stepping forward to coordinate the
Baptist Build volunteer schedule. If not done already, please let your
coordinator and Roberta Macauley, roberta.macauley@hab itatwake.org, know the dates that you would like to send teams from your church. Stay tuned about special youth work days.
2016 Families
Cathleen Jefferson was born and raised in Raleigh, and she has three young children: Marcus, Wisdom and Ariane. Cathleen works as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for Morningside Assisted Living and has been a CNA for several years now. Cathleen is very excited about having their own home and her own space. One of the aspects about being a Habitat homeowner that appeals to Cathleen is the opportunity to learn new things and grow, as a woman and a mother.
Admasu Abe and his wife, Yeshimbet Sewer were both born in Ethiopia, and they have two sons, Lehle (6) and Nahum (4). Admasu works for Cardinal Health Care, and when the family is together, they enjoy spending time with their faith community, worshiping and praising God.
